In Jesse’s Shoes is a beautifully illustrated children’s story teaching readers to love and accept special needs kids.
Jesse is a kind, sweet 11 year old boy who has special needs. Shown from the younger sister’s point of view we learn that Jesse is not “weird” but different- in a good way.
Jesse has a wonderful, simple faith in God. He actually stops (sometimes for hours) to appreciate nature. “Sisser” has a lot to learn from him. When she decides to step into his shoes for a while, the book comes alive with literary smells, sounds, and touch. This will quickly become one of your family’s favorite read alouds.
